Receita Grilled Cheese with Cheese Waffle

Did you know that the origin of the waffle was in Belgium?
It was used in churches at that time. It had the mass pressed between iron plates, to gain textures that symbolized religious themes and became the grid we know nowadays. With the increase in consumption, the recipe and the way to make it were increased, accompanied even with honey syrups, dulce de leche and chocolate. The savory version can be accompanied with cottage cheese, potatoes, cheeses and much more. This has become a classic dish in the American routine.

Lista de Ingredientes:

  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup butter melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 10 slices white cheddar chees

Modo de preparo:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, buttermilk, butter, and vanilla. Add in flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt and mix until batter is just about smooth.
  2. Spray your waffle iron with a non-stick cooking spray and then preheat it. Use slightly more than 1/3 cup of batter (for a standard 8-inch round waffle iron). Cook until waffles are golden brown and crispy
  3. Slice finished waffles into quarters. Place a slice of cheese on half of the waffle pieces and place another waffle on top of each one. Place the waffle sandwiches back on the grill and heat until center cheese is melted (it’s okay that your waffle iron won’t be able to close completely).
  4. Serve warm
